| Kitsap Countys second offering of The Internet and Your Child, which is a parents Internet education and safety course will be held on Oct. 21. The class is free to anyone 18 years of age and over, but space is limited to 20 people.
The seminar, which covers a wide variety of material parents whose children use the internet need to know, is endorsed by the Washington Association of Internet Service Providers (WAISP), the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) STAR program. The class is sponsored by the Kitsap County Sheriffs office and is being hosted by Central Kitsap School District.
Two of the instructors will be Roger Lundin of the US Attorneys Office and Jim Kendall, president of the WAISP and president of Telebyte Northwest Internet Services.
The class is a basic primer for parents even if they arent computer-literate on what their children face online, how to prevent their exposure to the negative elements, what to look for and how to protect them.
The class will be held in the Jenne-Wright Building at Central Kitsap School District Headquarters located at 9210 Silverdale Way. The time is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
