| A joint venture that retailers Amazon.com and Toysrus.com announced not long ago could be a harbinger for more elastic online sales partnerships, according to analysts.
Under the deal, the two companies will create a co-branded online toy and video games store, expected to launch in the fall. The partnership also calls for development of a co-branded online baby-products store to launch in the first half of next year.
The teaming between Amazon and Toysrus.com both with already large online presences represents a new generation of multichannel retailers that partner with other retailers to grow their businesses, wrote Forrester Group analysts Lisa Allen and David M. Cooperstein in a report following the announcement. |
