Palm launches new models
In a bid to move into the mass-market space addressed by its chief competitor, Handspring, Palm released two new significant updates to its product line, the more affordable Palm m100 and Palm VIIx.

Two new “special editions” of the Palm Vx were also announced, as well as peripherals that finally free the Palm from the PC.

The new m100 also includes three new software applications, a digital ink “note pad,” a clock application, and a basic tool to familiarize users with the Palm platform. All were designed “to address users that Palm hasn’t reached,” said Tim Twerdahl, product marketing manager for Palm, Santa Clara, Calif.
