KPUDs first fiber installation scheduled |
The Kitsap Public Utility Districts (KPUD) first fiber installation on Bainbridge Island is at the DayCity/Sound DSL facilities. This main hub for the Bainbridge section of the KPUD/NoaNet fiber optic ring will provide DayCity/Sound DSL with a geographically diverse, redundant fiber connection to back up their primary fibers to the Seattle GigaPOP from their Day Rd. co-location/Day Center facilities. DayCity/Sound DSLs co-location and carrier facility is scheduled for completion this March.
Sound DSL will offer Qwest customers a new 1.5 Meg residential Internet package featuring competitive pricing and better stability and security, compared to other highspeed Internet solutions.

Sprint announces DSL expansion |
| Sprint announced the expansion of high-speed DSL data services to the 10th Avenue, Powder Hill, Hwy 305 areas in Poulsbo. The company also launched its high-speed DSL services in Brinnon, on the north side of Hood Canal. |

Wi-Fi planned for RV parks |
The broadband subsidiary of Hughes Electronics Corp. is offering to help turn RV parks and resorts that want to offer Wi-Fi, but are too remote to get fast Internet connections through DSL or cable, into wireless Internet hot spots fed by satellite.
The parks can charge users whatever they want and Hughes will handle the billing.
Hughes is not the first to eye this market. After Marlin Jensen began offering Wi-Fi last year in his RV park in Kerrville, Texas, he started a company called Wireless Web LLC to spread the technology. So far hes set up Wi-Fi at seven parks in California and Texas. |
