Chrysler will add two new offerings to its PT Cruiser lineup in 2002: the Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1 and the Chrysler PT Cruiser Woodie edition.
The 2002 Dream Cruiser Series 1 is a limited-edition model that will be available in dealerships by February. Its the first in a series of factory-customized Dream Cruisers to be introduced on an annual basis. Only 7,500 units will be built, with a manufacturers suggested retail price of $23,995 for the automatic transaxle version.
It will be painted Inca Gold, and feature Dream Cruiser, Series 1 badging.
When the PT Cruiser first debuted, aftermarket wood paneling applications quickly surfaced throughout the country. This inspired Chrysler designers to reach back to the brands strong wood-body car heritage which was established in 1941 through 1950 with the Chrysler Town & Country series. Later, in 1968, Chrysler introduced simulated wood-panel design applications on its station wagons, and most recently on its Chrysler and Dodge minivans in the 1980s and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the early 1990s.
A simple, flowing wood-grained graphic appears on all four doors, the quarter panels and liftgate. The graphic is a linear Medium Oak wood grain framed with Light Ash surround moldings. Unlike aftermarket wood accent applications, this vehicle will have a full factory warranty.
The Woodie option will be available on all PT Cruiser models with a manufacturers suggested retail price for the option of $895. |
