Two Kitsap County streams are being restored to allow, in part, for development. What is unique about these projects is that the restorations benefit both development objectives and the health of the stream. The two are not always mutually exclusive. Although biologists typically advise developers about what they can’t do near streams, sometimes their advice is to move, alter, or otherwise restore a stream. The economic impact of boating in Kitsap County is significant and may soon become more so. Bremerton Mayor Cary Bozeman has been hard at work trying to keep his campaign promise to revitalize Bremerton’s city center. Currently, there are seven major revitalization projects in the works for downtown. They are as follows:

 

Kitsap County has new technology to speed land-use permitting. Implemented in April, the custom software was designed and developed locally by Poulsbo-based Paladin Data Systems Corporation, the largest independent Oracle consulting firm in the Pacific NW. The new system will provide valuable services to people seeking permits, and provide Kitsap County a tool to improve efficiency. Amazing improvements in government service are not reported too often. Here is one that many would like to see in Kitsap County. The City of Tacoma took customer service to a new level in 1995 with ultra-fast building permit processing; and, a money back guarantee if the allotted time is exceeded.
