It seems that the longer the health care debate drags on, and more things about what is being proposed in HB 3200 come out, the worse things get for the average American — or at least the ones that will be footing the bill for this boondoggle.

2009 Hyundai GenesisEveryone who saw the 2009 Hyundai Genesis during my test drive period had two universal reactions: They were impressed by the total luxury, and outstanding styling of this car — and shocked to learn it was a Hyundai.

The Genesis is a totally new, rear-wheel-drive luxury sport sedan. 2010 Nissan 370Z RoadsterI confess, I’ve always been a ragtop guy, having owned about a dozen in my life. That’s why when given an opportunity to test drive one, I’m always first in line with my hand up — as was the case recently when Nissan invited me for a test drive over some of California’s finest mountain roads out to the coast, and a ride up the Pacific Coast Highway.

Building a really good convertible is complicated. There’s a lot more to it than just hacking the roof off — things like rigidity and stiffness for example — not to mention basic design issues. read more »

 

Boxlight, Inc. has announced that manufacturing of Boxlight Projectors has expanded to three countries, allowing the US government to purchase Boxlight projectors directly from the GSA schedule.

“Boxlight’s flexibility and response to the needs of our customers has always been our strength” stated company president Hank Nance. “Over twenty years of on-going and repeat government customers have requested TAA compliant product from Boxlight and opening manufacturing in three countries allows for our products to be offered again.” read more »

 

Amy Burnett’s half hour TV show, “Amy’s Downtown” will air at a new time beginning Oct. 4 on BKAT’s channel 12 and 3. A different show subject will air every Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Each program covers a dozen or more downtown happenings such as visits to museums and galleries, interviews with people on the street, construction projects, historical photographs, music, street markets, art and local current events. The series will run every Sunday until the end of March. read more »

 

Sam Askew, president of the KPVBC Board and Patricia Graf-Hoke, executive general manager, announced the formation of special KPVCB Committee called the Kitsap Peninsula Brand & Tourism Development.

“This has been one of our long term goals and at the KEDA/Port of Bremerton vitality summit yesterday, it’s clear tourism and

Charles Keating Appointed as Interim President

Doña KeatingDoña Keating has retired from WSTA as president, effective October 31, 2009.

Keating made the announcement to the board on September 22, 2009. The Board has appointed Charles Keating as Interim President to serve the remainder of Ms. Keating’s term, which expires December 31, 2010. He has resigned the Vice Presidency, a position which is now vacant, but will remain Treasurer. William Huckabee is sitting Secretary, with Ted Farmer serving At-Large. read more »

 

Peninsula Cancer Center with their Elekta Synergy linear acceleratorPeninsula Cancer Center opened its doors in Poulsbo in September, bringing state-of-the-art radiation oncology treatment and top physicians to North Kitsap. The independently- owned clinic was founded by Dr. Berit Madsen and Dr. R. “Alex” Hsi, who have more than 25 years combined in cancer care.

The two physicians were previously business partners in practice at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and have been named among the city’s top doctors by Seattle Magazine read more »

Parker Mooers & Cena, CPAs of Silverdale recently announced that Johnnie L. Hawkins has recently passed the uniform exam for becoming a certified public accountant (CPA). The CPA exam is a 15-hour exam and covers all areas of accounting and tax law. Hawkins is a graduate of the University of Washington. His areas of specialization include individual and business taxation and small business accounting including being a QuickBooks Pro-advisor. He has been with Parker Mooers & Cena for four years.

 

Country Meadows, an independent living senior community which is owned and operated by Encore Communities, recently announced that Linda Muselik has joined its team. She will be filling the administrative/marketing assistant position.

Muselik is a recent college graduate from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s of science in marketing, and a minor in French.
