St. Anthony Hospital, slated to open in Gig Harbor North in March, will create as many as 450 jobs — and recruitment is in full swing.

The hospital is currently recruiting registered nurses and other health care professionals as it prepares to begin providing patient care in March. In November, about 120 nurses attended a St. Anthony-sponsored Nurse Career Fair to discuss employment opportunities at the new hospital. read more »

Accreditation distinguishes both the outpatient surgical and endoscopy areas at The Doctors Clinic Salmon Medical Center from many other outpatient surgical facilities by providing a safe work environment and the highest quality of care to patients.

Status as an accredited organization means The Doctors Clinic has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by the Accreditation Association. read more »

 

MultiCare Health System will soon open a new ambulatory surgery center at the MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park on Point Fosdick Drive in the Uptown Gig Harbor Shopping Center. The ambulatory surgery center will open in early Jan. 2009 and provide a broad array of surgical services that do not require a hospital stay. Those include orthopedics, urology, gynecology, podiatry and ear, nose and throat. Services also include general surgical procedures such as mass and cyst removal, biopsies and hernia repair. read more »

Advanced Medical Imaging is expanding its Port Orchard facility. The centerpiece of the expansion is a state-of-the-art High Field Open MRI. Patients are now being scheduled for this piece of equipment located at the South Kitsap Medical Center campus, 450 South Kitsap Boulevard, Suite 110.

St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, a $160 million facility opening in March, will feature advanced technology, including state-of-the-art lab and diagnostic technology.

According to Franciscan Health Systems officials, it took a year to install more than 290 miles of copper cables and fiber optic lines to support all the low-voltage systems throughout the new hospital. read more »

 

Regence, the leading health insurer in the Pacific Northwest, announced in December its support for the Obama administration and Congress’ move toward meaningful, patient-centered health reforms. Kicking off its effort, Regence released the findings of a national public opinion survey of 1,002 adults, helping bring the voice of the consumer into the emerging national discussion of health reform. read more »

 

Harrison Medical Center’s vascular surgeon Angela Diamond has achieved what no other woman has: She is the only woman in the United States to hold three surgical board certifications. For that matter, her achievement is rare in our four-state region, where she is the only surgeon to hold that title. And soon, if all goes according to plan, she will push the envelope even more, adding a fourth surgical board certification. read more »

 

MultiCare Regional Cancer Center at Tacoma General Hospital is one of the first facilities in the Pacific Northwest to offer a more individualized five-day course of radiation treatment for early-stage breast cancer.

This new radiation treatment with the SAVI applicator expands treatment options for most women with early-stage breast cancer. Now the majority of women who qualify for partial breast radiation can be treated with the SAVI applicator. read more »

 

Bremerton-based KPS Health Plans is in the process of streamlining its operations, and President Richard Marks said the company is healthy and viable, poised for continuous growth.

KPS is introducing the so-called Lean model, a business system that helps implement lean practices and principles for more efficient operations by identifying value to the end customer and eliminating workflow waste through a series of steps. read more »

 

The economy may be soft, but Harrison Medical Center is moving ahead with three new major capital projects: a major remodel of the Bremerton hospital, an expansion of the Silverdale one, and an addition of a clinic and cancer center in Poulsbo. The projects are part of the nonprofit’s Vision 20/20 strategic plan.

The expansion of the Port Orchard clinic and construction of a new Belfair site are in the meantime nearing completion, with the Port Orchard clinic scheduled for a ribbon-cutting on Jan. 13, and the Belfair one in April. read more »
