Jeff McCormick has joined the Homebuilders Association of Kitsap County as its government affairs director. He replaces Samantha Torpey, who recently resigned to pursue other interests.

Originally from Phoenix, Ariz., McCormick is a graduate of Arizona State University and a former Army officer who spent 12 years in the Army, both as an enlisted man and an officer. read more »

Scott Real Estate’s most successful year in its 73-year history, the company was recently ranked the eighth most productive independent real estate company in the nation based on 2003 sales volume. The Building Industry of Washington has unanimously voted to file an initiative to reform the state’s workers’ compensation system. “BIAW has decided to file an initiative to send a message to the Legislature and the Governor that inaction on this important issue will not be tolerated,” said BIAW President Gary Cronce, a Grapeview homebuilder. read more »

The BJC Group Inc. of Port Orchard recently announced the completion of the new Social Security Administration office located at the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Mickelberry Road in Silverdale. The SSA has relocated from its previous location in East Bremerton.

The ongoing battle waged by Building Industry Association of Washington to force the National Marine Fisheries Services to remove several Washington salmon runs from listing under the Endangered Species Act has scored an important victory.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the 2001 U.S. District decision in Alsea Valley Alliance v. Evans delisting Oregon Coast coho salmon because NMFS failed to include hatchery-spawned salmon when determining total salmon populations.  read more »
