The White Horse Golf Course in Kingston is nearly a year away from being finished, but it had already saved about $80,000 in construction costs. That’s because during the excavation and routing process, which is in full swing, a wonderful discovery was made: lots of sand lay underneath. Melanoma will claim 10,000 lives this year. An American’s lifetime risk of developing melanoma is about one in 75. In October 2001, local resident Randy Johnson died of advanced melanoma. His wife, Coreen Haydock Johnson, who has worked as a director and volunteer for many Kitsap County not-for-profit organizations and volunteer group’s decided to make a difference in the area of melanoma by raising funds for this extremely difficult to treat cancer and increasing awareness for its prevention and early detection. read more »

Bridge enthusiasts around the globe are able to watch progress on new Tacoma Narrows Bridge construction from another virtual window as the Washington State Department of Transportation activated an additional web cam. This camera, in conjunction with the existing web cam, increases construction views from one image to five and includes shots of the eastern and western caissons, the eastern and western anchorages and the overall bridge.

The West Sound Technology Professionals Association recently announced its upcoming event schedule.
